One of a kind porcelain bowl, embellished with kintsugi, paint, ink, and decoupage. Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and powdered gold. It regards breakage and repair as part of the history and beauty of an object rather than something to conceal. This series of work explores the strength and beauty to be gained by embracing imperfection and change.
Diameter of bowl is 5.25”, depth is 3”. Please note that this is a decorative object only and should not be used to hold liquids or food items. (This is one of only a few remaining of the bowls that I brought back from my stay in Tokyo for the purpose of decorating- it is not handmade by me!)
